Heineken Experience: Must see i Amsterdam!

Before leaving for Amsterdam I had a talk with some of my colleagues who recently had been there. I asked them what we should do and experience while staying for a short time. They recommended us to go on the Heineken Experience tour in their old brewery which today is used as a museum.

They said it was a cozy and fun experience. Since I was on the look out for cultural experiences that wouldn’t bore Sonny too much (art museum = no go!) this did sound pretty promising.

We had bought our tickets from home and just had to show them on our phones at the entrance. Honestly I had no idea what to expect of the tour but it was nothing like the reality. The tour through the brewery was a mix of self touring, the actual brewery, tastings of the different processes, guided showcases, beer tasting, disco and fun until you at last ended out in the basement which was transformed into a big bar with music and of course lots of beer.

Originally I chose the Heineken Experience purely for the sake of Sonny who is a fond beerdrinker. In the end we both ended out being just as satisfied as the other about the tour. It was incredibly educational and even though as the most of us just think of Heineken as a beer, the brewery has had an enormous importance to the city and not least the country. It was great to get a look back in time and getting to taste great beer.

Every step of the tour was incredibly thought through and there was always something new to see or experience. Not 2 rooms were a like. I can most certainly recommend this experience if you’re looking for a different cultural experience when in Amsterdam!
